Dryer drum spins normally but produces no warm air — clothes remain wet after a complete cycle.
Dryer heats weakly; takes two or more full cycles to dry a normal load of laundry.
Dryer runs too hot continuously because the element coil is shorted to the housing case.
Thermal fuse keeps blowing because a partially failed element draws excessive or uncontrolled current.
💡 Pro Tip: Diagnosing a Failed Dryer Heating Element
Your part is likely the culprit if you notice any of the following:
⚠️ Dryer runs but produces no heat and clothes stay damp after a full cycle
⚠️ Dryer takes two or more cycles to fully dry a normal load
⚠️ Drum spins normally but there is zero warm air coming from the exhaust vent
⚠️ Dryer overheats continuously — element shorted to the case, causing runaway heat
🔬 Use a multimeter set to continuity mode: test each terminal of the element to the metal case. If either terminal shows continuity to the case, the element is shorted and must be replaced. Also check the thermal fuse (WP3392519) and cycling thermostat (WP3387134) before replacing the element — a blown fuse is often the root cause that took the element out with it.
