The surface element fails to heat when energized — the most common failure mode. The radiant coil burns out like a light bulb and must be replaced; it is not repairable.
The inner 9-inch zone or outer 12-inch ring heats normally but the other zone does not respond. A broken circuit in one section of the dual-zone element requires full element replacement.
Terminal ends overheat and corrode or burn away from the element body, breaking the electrical connection and preventing any heat output.
The element heats inconsistently or takes far longer than normal to reach cooking temperature, indicating a partially failed coil with degraded resistance.

💡 Pro Tip: How to Tell Your Surface Element Has Failed
Your part is likely the culprit if you notice any of the following:
⚠️ Burner does not heat at all when turned on, even though the control knob or touch pad responds normally
⚠️ Only the inner 9-inch zone heats but the outer 12-inch ring stays cold, or vice versa
⚠️ Visible burn marks, dark spots, cracks, or a broken coil visible beneath the glass surface
⚠️ Terminals appear discolored, corroded, or one end has burned away from the element body
Before ordering, confirm the fault is in the element and not the surface element switch: use a multimeter set to continuity mode and probe both terminal pairs on the element. A good element will show continuity; an open (infinite resistance) reading on either zone confirms the element is faulty and must be replaced. The radiant surface element is not repairable — replacement is the only fix.
