This Part Fixes These Problems

Will Not Spin

Washer fills and agitates normally but stops before spin cycle — the lid lock assembly is not sending the closed-lid signal to the timer or control board.

Will Not Drain

Water stays in the tub after the wash or rinse cycle because the machine cannot confirm the lid is locked and will not advance to drain/spin.

Will Not Start

Washer has power and the timer is set, but the machine does not begin the cycle — a failed lid switch prevents the control circuit from energizing.

Pumps But Won't Spin

Drain pump runs and empties the tub, but the drum never reaches spin speed because the lid lock solenoid fails to engage and release the spin interlock.

Lid Stays Locked After Cycle

The lid remains mechanically locked at the end of the wash cycle and cannot be opened — the solenoid is stuck engaged due to internal failure of the lock assembly.

Product Description

Why Choose Our 134101800 Lid Lock Switch Assembly?

🔧
Built to OEM SpecificationsEngineered to match original Frigidaire specs: 4-wire connector, external safety switch, dimensions 130 × 84 × 59 mm (5.12 × 3.31 × 2.32 in). Combines the lid lock solenoid and lid switch in one integrated assembly — just like the factory part.
🔄
Updated Mounting Bracket DesignFeatures a redesigned mounting bracket that supersedes the older style. In some applications the old bracket may need to be drilled off prior to installing the new lock — full instructions are included in the box.
✅
Wide Brand CompatibilityFits top-load washers from Frigidaire, Electrolux, Kenmore, Gibson, Westinghouse, Kelvinator, Tappan, Crosley, and Uni. One part covers decades of production models across all these Electrolux-platform brands.
💡
Replaces 10+ Obsolete Part NumbersDirectly supersedes AP2108159, PS648775, 131675600, 131595100, 5303306138, 145328, 916791, 3204390, 3204391, and 3205646 — the original OEM part is discontinued; this is the correct updated replacement.
⚡
Safety Interlock RestoredSends the correct signal to the control board or timer when the lid is closed, allowing agitation and spin to proceed safely. Prevents the drum from spinning with the lid open, protecting both the user and the machine.
🛠️
True DIY-Friendly InstallReal-world users report swapping this part in as little as 10–15 minutes. Requires only basic hand tools. If replacing a 4-wire switch, simply tape off the unused light switch leads — the light circuit is not used on updated models.

💡 Pro Tip: How to Know Your Lid Lock Assembly Has Failed

Your part is likely the culprit if you notice any of the following:

⚠️ Washer fills and agitates but refuses to spin or drain

⚠️ Washer will not start at all even though it has power

⚠️ Lid locks but the machine still won't advance past the wash cycle

⚠️ Lid lock solenoid does not click or engage when the cycle starts

🔍 Diagnosis tip: Raise the washer top and test continuity through the lid switch terminals with a multimeter. No continuity with the lid closed = failed switch. Also inspect the wiring connectors for burn marks or loose pins before condemning the assembly — a burned connector can cause a new switch to fail after just one cycle.

Questions & Answers

My old lid switch only has 2 wires but the 134101800 has 4 terminals — will it still work?
Answered by Support Team  ·  Mar 15, 2024
Yes, it will work. The 4-wire assembly combines both functions: two wires control the lid switch circuit (same as your old 2-wire switch) and the other two wires operate the lid lock solenoid. On older models that did not have a lock solenoid, simply tape off the two unused lock leads as described in the included instructions. All four wires are required on machines that use the full lock function.
The new lid switch burned out after just one wash cycle — what causes this?
Answered by Support Team  ·  Nov 20, 2023
A brand-new switch that burns out immediately is almost always caused by a problem in the wiring harness, not the switch itself. Before installing a replacement, inspect all connectors and wire terminals for charring, corrosion, or loose pins. A high-resistance connection at any terminal generates heat that will destroy the new switch in one cycle. Clean or replace any damaged connectors before fitting the new part.
I replaced the lid lock assembly but my Frigidaire washer still won't drain or spin — what else should I check?
Answered by Support Team  ·  Jan 8, 2025
If the new lid lock is confirmed good (solenoid clicks and switch shows continuity with lid closed), the next suspects are the washer timer and control board. On timer-controlled models, a worn timer contact that does not close properly will prevent drain and spin even with a perfect lid lock. Test for 120 V AC at the drain pump terminals when the machine should be draining; if voltage is absent, suspect the timer (e.g., 131758600 or 134883600 depending on your model).
Do I need to drill anything when installing the 134101800?
Answered by Support Team  ·  Jul 22, 2024
It depends on the age of your washer. The 134101800 uses an updated mounting bracket design that replaces the older riveted bracket. If your original switch was held by the old-style riveted bracket, you will need to drill off those rivets before mounting the new assembly. The new bracket is secured with screws for easy future replacement. Full instructions are included with the part.
