If voltage is absent, the control board DC92-00382A is likely the cause. You can also bench-test the motor windings while unplugged: terminal 3 to terminal 4 should read 2.88 Ω, and terminal 4 to terminal 5 should read 3.5 Ω. Readings outside these values confirm a failed winding.
Is DC31-00055G compatible with my Samsung DV42H5200EW/A3?

The fan nut will not come off — am I turning it the wrong way?

Yes, almost certainly. The blower wheel retaining nut on the DC31-00055G motor uses LEFT-HAND THREAD. To loosen it you must turn clockwise (opposite of standard). To re-tighten on the new motor, turn counter-clockwise. If the fan blade is bonded to the shaft with adhesive, insert a flat pry bar between the motor body and fan hub and tap the shaft end firmly with a hammer while maintaining pry pressure.
Does this motor fit Kenmore dryers?

Yes. The DC31-00055G drive motor is compatible with Kenmore dryers that share the Samsung OEM platform, including Kenmore models 40289032011 and 40289032012. Kenmore dryers in the DV-series Samsung lineage use the same DFS270ZSEL1 motor assembly. Can I replace only the centrifugal switch instead of the whole motor?

No. The centrifugal switch is integrated inside the motor housing and is not available as a separate serviceable part from Samsung or aftermarket suppliers. If the switch contacts are burnt or the actuator mechanism is stuck, the entire DC31-00055G motor assembly must be replaced. Attempting to disassemble the motor housing to access the switch is not recommended and voids any warranty on the part.
