Dishwasher door drops all the way to the floor uncontrollably when unlatched, potentially damaging hinges or lower door panel.
Door does not stay at a comfortable open angle and requires manual support; broken cable can no longer transfer spring tension to counterbalance door weight.
Loud squeaking, snapping, or grinding sound when opening or closing the dishwasher door due to worn or broken roller wheel assembly.
Upper dish rack slides forward on its own every time the door is opened because the door drops too far and loses its resting angle.
Door does not close or latch properly because misalignment caused by a failed balance link kit prevents the door from seating squarely against the tub gasket.

💡 Pro Tip: Is Your Dishwasher Door Balance Link Kit Failing?
Your part is likely the culprit if you notice any of the following:
⚠️ Dishwasher door slams all the way open or free-falls when unlatched
⚠️ Visible broken white plastic shards or frayed / snapped rope cable inside the cabinet sides
⚠️ Upper rack slides out on its own every time the door is opened
⚠️ Loud squeaking or grinding noise when opening or closing the dishwasher door
Pro diagnosis: Pull the dishwasher out approximately 20 inches from the cabinet and inspect both side panels. If either rope cable is frayed or broken, or the plastic clip mount is cracked, replace the full kit — both sides at the same time. Also inspect the door spring (WP8270182) and replace it if weak or broken before reassembly.
