Gas burner fails to produce a flame when the knob is turned to Ignite — electrode is not generating a spark.
Burner ignites slowly, inconsistently, or requires multiple attempts due to a degraded electrode tip.
Igniter clicks repeatedly but the burner never lights, indicating the electrode cannot bridge the spark gap properly.
Burner lights briefly then goes out immediately, caused by an electrode too weak to sustain the gas ignition sequence.
💡 Pro Tip: Is Your Gas Burner Not Igniting?
Your part is likely the culprit if you notice any of the following:
⚠️ Burner clicks repeatedly but fails to light or produce a flame
⚠️ Weak or intermittent spark — burner lights slowly or inconsistently
⚠️ Burner flame goes out shortly after ignition
⚠️ Visible cracks, carbon buildup, or physical damage on the electrode tip
Before replacing, remove the burner cap and clean the electrode tip and burner holes with a straight pin and soft brass wire brush. If clicking persists with no spark after cleaning, the electrode is defective and must be replaced. Also verify the igniter mounting screw (WP8273062) is intact — it is sold separately.
