Element does not glow or produce heat when broil function is activated.
Oven runs but fails to reach set temperature after extended preheat — often caused by a failed upper broil element.
Food browns unevenly or has cold spots during the broiling process due to partial element failure.
Blisters, cracks, burn marks, or physical breaks visible on the surface of the broil element.
Range powers on but oven cavity does not heat at all in broil or bake mode.
💡 Pro Tip: Is Your Broil Element the Problem?
Your part is likely the culprit if you notice any of the following:
⚠️ Broiler does not heat up or glow red when turned on
⚠️ Oven fails to reach set temperature after extended preheat time
⚠️ Uneven browning or cold spots during broiling
⚠️ Visible burn marks, blistering, or breaks on the element surface
Use a multimeter set to Rx1 and probe both terminals of the element — a working broil element should show continuity (near-zero resistance). No continuity = confirmed open element. Also check the control board relay: a failed broil relay can burn out elements prematurely even when the bake relay is still functional.
