GE Dishwasher Water Inlet Valve Parts — Models & Compatibility

Your GE dishwasher won't fill with water, or maybe it's overfilling and leaking onto your kitchen floor. Nine times out of ten, that's the water inlet valve. This hub covers the WD15X10009 replacement valve — the part that controls water flow into your dishwasher's tub. If you've got a GE, Hotpoint, or RCA dishwasher from the last decade, there's a good chance this valve fits your model.
Is This the Right Part for Your Model?
The WD15X10009 valve fits over 100 GE dishwasher models, including the GLDT690 series, GSM1800 series, and many Hotpoint variants. Your model number is usually on a sticker inside the door frame or along the top edge of the door opening. Look for the full model string — something like GLDT690D00WW or GSM1800F02BB. Cross-reference it with the compatibility list below to confirm this valve works for your specific unit.
About This Replacement Part
The water inlet valve is a solenoid-operated component that opens when your dishwasher calls for water during the fill cycle. When it fails, you'll either get no water at all (the valve won't open) or continuous water flow (the valve won't close). This GE factory replacement valve (part number WD15X10009) supersedes older part numbers AP3794563, WD15X23665, and PS959010. It's a direct-fit replacement with the same electrical connection and mounting bracket configuration as the original. The valve includes dual solenoids for models with separate fill circuits, and it's rated for standard residential water pressure up to 120 PSI.

- GSM1860 Series: GSM1860F00SS
This list represents the most common installations. The valve also fits many Hotpoint and RCA branded dishwashers manufactured by GE. If your model isn't listed here, check the full compatibility data on the product page or compare your current valve's part number against WD15X10009, AP3794563, or WD15X23665.
What to Check Before Ordering
Pull out your lower dish rack and look at the bottom of the tub. You should see the water inlet valve mounted on the left side, usually behind a cover panel. Before you order, verify your current valve has two electrical connectors (dual solenoid design). If you only see one connector, you might have a different valve configuration. Also check your home's water supply line — if you've got hard water, consider replacing the inlet screen at the same time. Sediment buildup on that screen causes premature valve failure.
Installation Overview
This is a straightforward repair if you're comfortable working with basic plumbing. You'll need to shut off the water supply under your sink, disconnect the fill hose from the old valve, remove two mounting screws, unplug the electrical connectors, and reverse the process with the new valve. The entire job takes about 30 minutes. Just make sure you don't overtighten the water supply connection — hand-tight plus a quarter turn with pliers is plenty. Overtightening cracks the valve housing.
Why This Valve Fails
Water inlet valves fail for three main reasons: mineral deposits from hard water, sediment clogging the solenoid mechanism, or worn rubber seals that lose their ability to close completely. GE dishwashers built between 2008 and 2015 seem particularly prone to valve failures around the 7-8 year mark. If you're replacing this valve, it's also smart to check your drain pump and circulation pump while you've got the dishwasher pulled out. They're all about the same age, and if one component's failing, others aren't far behind.
