Ice maker assembly has stopped producing ice cubes entirely. The motor module or mold heater has failed internally, preventing the harvest cycle from initiating even when the freezer is at the correct temperature.
Ice freezes in the mold tray but the ejector rake fails to push cubes out. The motor inside the assembly has seized or the rake mechanism is stripped, leaving cubes stuck in the mold.
Ice maker continuously calls for water and overflows, causing ice buildup and icicles on freezer shelves. The control module inside the assembly is stuck in the fill cycle and must be replaced.
Cubes come out hollow, crescent-shaped instead of full, or far smaller than normal. The mold heater output has degraded, preventing proper cube formation and release timing.
Unit makes one or two batches of ice then quits for hours. Internal timer or thermal sensor within the assembly module has failed, causing the cycle to abort prematurely.
💡 Pro Tip: How to Confirm Your Ice Maker — Not the Optics Board — Has Failed
Your part is likely the culprit if you notice any of the following:
⚠️ Refrigerator produces zero ice despite freezer temperature being at or below 0°F
⚠️ Ice maker fills with water but cubes are never ejected / harvested
⚠️ Misshapen, undersized, or hollow ice cubes being produced
⚠️ Water leaks or icicles forming under the ice maker — unit stuck in fill mode
🔍 Quick field test: Open the freezer door. The emitter LED on the right wall should flash. Press the optics flapper on the left wall — the LED should go solid. If it goes solid and you still have no ice, the ice maker assembly itself has failed and needs replacement. If the LED stays flashing with the flapper held down, replace the emitter board (W11629974) instead of this assembly.
