The ice maker solenoid port of this triple-solenoid valve controls water fill during the harvest cycle. When the solenoid coil fails or internal debris screens clog, the ice maker stops receiving water and ice production ceases entirely.
The water dispenser solenoid on this valve opens to release chilled water to the door. A failed or clogged solenoid results in no water output even when the dispenser paddle is activated and 120VAC is present at the valve.
A cracked valve body or deteriorated internal seals caused by age, frozen water, or high water pressure (above 120 psi) will cause water to pool behind or beneath the refrigerator. The valve must be replaced to stop the leak.
When the solenoid diaphragm is stuck open or the valve body fails to fully close, water drips or flows from the dispenser without any user input. This typically also causes overflow at the filter housing inside the refrigerator.
Internal debris screens within the valve inlet can accumulate mineral deposits and sediment over time, restricting flow to both the ice maker and water dispenser, resulting in slow dispensing or small, hollow ice cubes.
💡 Pro Tip: How to Diagnose a Failing Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve
Your part is likely the culprit if you notice any of the following:
⚠️ Ice maker stopped producing ice cubes entirely
⚠️ Water dispenser produces no water or very weak flow from the door
⚠️ Water leaking at the back lower-right area of the refrigerator
⚠️ Dispenser runs continuously or water drips without pressing the lever
Before ordering, confirm the valve is receiving 120VAC when the dispenser paddle is pressed. If voltage is present but no water flows, the valve has failed internally. Also check for a frozen fill tube — a blocked tube can mimic a bad valve. Test solenoid resistance: 500–1500 ohms is normal; a reading near 200 ohms or open circuit confirms a failed coil.
