WB44K10005 WB44K10005 Oven Bake Element Compatible with GE Hotpoint Kenmore Americana, Replaces WB44K10001 WB30X46987 AP2030964 PS249238 824269

If your GE or Hotpoint oven won't reach temperature or heats unevenly, the bake element is usually the culprit. This hub covers WB44K10005 compatibility across multiple GE series (JBS, JBP, J2B, C2S) and Hotpoint RB models. This bottom heating element is responsible for all your baking heat — when it fails, you'll notice right away.

Is This the Right Part for Your Model?

Check your model number against the compatible list below. You'll find your model number on a metal tag inside the oven door frame or along the front edge when you open the door. GE models typically start with JBS, JBP, or J2B, while Hotpoint models use the RB prefix. This element replaces original part numbers WB44K10001, WB30X46987, AP2030964, and PS249238.

About This Replacement Part

The bake element sits at the bottom of your oven cavity and provides direct heat for baking. When it's working properly, you'll see it glow red-orange during the heating cycle. The bake element may fail due to visible separation or blistering, or it may not heat evenly or at all. If you're seeing little to no heat when baking, or your oven's running too hot or too cold, inspect the element for physical damage. A broken element will often show a visible break in the coil or dark blistered spots where the metal has separated. This part works across both white and stainless steel models in the JBS, JBP, J2B, and C2S series from GE, plus the entire Hotpoint RB range including older Americana models.

Common Failure Symptoms

  • Little to no heat when baking — The most obvious sign your element has failed
  • Element will not heat — No red glow during preheat cycle
  • Oven not heating evenly — Hot spots or cold zones during baking
  • Will not start — Safety systems may prevent oven operation with a shorted element
  • Oven is too hot — Less common, but can indicate a partially failed element creating resistance issues

What You Need to Know

This is a straightforward swap for most DIYers. You'll need to disconnect power at the breaker, remove the oven racks, take out the screws holding the old element, disconnect the wire terminals, and reverse the process with the new part. The element connects with push-on terminals — no special tools required beyond a screwdriver. Make sure you're replacing like-for-like: measure your old element if you're unsure, and verify the wattage matches your oven's specifications.
