About This Replacement Part

The W10467289 temperature sensor monitors incoming water temperature and signals the control board to adjust hot and cold water valve timing. When it fails — usually from thermal stress or mechanical wear after years of cycles — you'll see symptoms like the washer refusing to switch between wash steps, error codes flashing on the display, or clothes coming out barely washed even when you selected hot water. One common failure isn't even the sensor itself: vibration can split the wires at the zip tie connection point, causing intermittent failures that look like a bad sensor. If you're getting error codes, check those wires first before ordering the part.

Installation Notes

This is a 15-30 minute repair rated Very Easy. You'll need nut drivers to access the sensor. Important: on Whirlpool Duet Sport and similar models, the sensor is at the rear of the machine, not the front — you'll remove the back panel, not the front as some generic videos suggest. The sensor doesn't include seal WP8540766, so order that separately if your old seal is damaged. After replacing, clear any stored error codes from the control board.
